SUMMARY

OF OCTOBER 19, 2022, PUBLIC MEETING WITH HOLTEC INTERNATIONAL TO DISCUSS CLARIFICATIONS OF HOLTECS RESPONSES TO THE REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR THE SHIELDING TOPICAL REPORT On October 19, 2022, an Observation public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Holtec International (Holtec, the applicant). The purpose of the meeting was for NRC staff to seek clarifications (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML22265A131) regarding Holtecs responses to a request of additional information (RAI) (ML22038A940) pertaining to the application of a Topical Report on Methodology for Fuel Qualification. The meeting notice and agenda, dated October 19, 2022, are available in ADAMS at Accession No. ML22272A004. Enclosure 1 to this document contains a summary of the clarification questions asked by NRC staff, and the responses/discussion between Holtec and NRC staff during the meeting. Enclosure 2 contains the meeting attendance list.

No regulatory decisions were made during the meeting. Two members of the public attended the meeting. No one asked any questions during the Questions and Answers session. Holtec did not commit to a date when supplemental responses will be provided to the unresolved RAIs.

Holtec will follow-up with the NRC Project Manager regarding the submittal date for the supplemental response after Holtec has determined the timeframe needed to develop the responses.
