Gentlemen:
On January 13,1998, Parsons Power Group Inc. (PPGI) participated in a publicly observed meeting with the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNECo). The meeting was held in the training center at the Millstone site. The primary purpose of a portion of the meeting was to discuss the status of the Millstone Unit 2 Independent Corrective Action Verification Program (ICAVP).
PPGI presented an overall Unit 2 project summary and provided the status of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 activities. Key activities included in the project summary include:
e liigh Pressure Safety injection System design and Licensing basis review is 95% complete.
. Tier 2 Critical Design Characteristics validation phase is underway with the RC Flow events complete.
. Tier 3 - Three sample areas completed this month.
e Target submittal date for the Unit 2 ICAVP Final Report is July 10,1998.
