1.0 REFERENCES

2.0 INTRODUCTION

2.1 PURPOSE This instruction is prepared to set forth specific work require-ments for:

Cleanliness Control, during Reactor Coolant Loop Installation, and prior to RPV internals installation of the Reactor Pressure Vessel, Steam Generator Channel Heads, Pressurizer, Coolant Loop Piping, and Reactor Coolant Pump Casings.

2.2 RESPONSIBILITY Engineering and craft disciplines responsible for the work described herein are as follows:

Each B&R Craft Superintendent / department head and responsible supervisors of the organizations having to perform work in-the aforementioned items shall be responsible for implementation of this instruction.

3.0 CLEANLINESS REQUIREMENTS 3.1 During the entire time a seal and/or closure is removed, the openings to exposed surfaces shall be monitored by the craft performing the work.

7/7/81 2 of 2 3.2 Prior to entering the Reactor Coolant System, all personnel, tools, and equipment shall be registered on the log sheet maintained by the M111 wright Department.

3.3 All Personnel inside the pressure vessels or piping shall wear rubber boots. These will be available at the R.P.V.

over accessway or Reactor Coordinator's Office.

3.4 The steam generator tubes shall be protected with a plastic covering held in place with approved duct tape to prevent any air circulation thru the tubes.

3.5 Precautions shall be taken to prevent the contact of carbon steel (CS) material with stainless steel (SS) material. Color coding of the tools to be used with SS material shall be in accordance with procedure CP-CPM 6.9E.

3.6 Smoking, eating, drinking or chewing is prohibited inside any Q

vessel s.

Signs are to be posted at entrances stressing these requirements.

3.7 Good housekeeping shall be maintained in all werking areas and on adjacent material and equipment. When solvent is used, it

shall be followed by isopropyl alcohol._

NOTE: Requirements for good housekeeping may be satisfied by the following:

The work areas shall be kept sufficiently clean and orderly that construction activity can proceed in an efficient manner that will produce and. maintain qual-ity. Where large accumulations of material occur on a non-routine basis, the material shall be promptly removed or stored neatly. Garbage, trash, scrap, lit-i ter, and other excess materials shall be collected and removed from the work areas. Such excess material shall not be allowed to accumulate and create conditions that i

will adversely affect quality.

3.8 The material used on the inside of the components for scaffolding,

work platform, etc. shall be the fire-retardant type.

3.9 Appropriate measures such as overhead shelters, covering on pipe, etc. shall be utilized to prevent arc strikes / burning due to high voltage electrical leads, welding, etc.
