5FJANUARY 15, 1987 MEETING ON USE 0F.ASME CODE CASE N-411

On' January 15, 1987, representatives of the Philadelphia Electric Company met with the NRC staff in Bethesda, Maryland. The subject of the meeting was the use of ASME Code Case N-411. " Alternative Damping Values for Seismic Analysis of Classes 1, 2 End 3 Piping Sections,Section III, Division 1" in the ongoing construction of Unit 2. A list of. attendees is provided in the Enclosure.

Earlier meetings.had been held on this subject on October 8, November 7 and December 3, 1986. In those meetings,;the applicant presented its various-analytical approaches, including the results of reanalyses, to juttify the use

-of the ISM method with N-411 damping for Limerick Unit 2 Piping. Details of the reanalyses were submitted to the staff by letters dated December 24, 1986 and January 13, 1987. This meeting was held to discuss the infonnation in those two letters.. The extensive information presented by the applicant for review during;this meeting is provided as Attachment 3 to the applicant's

-letter of January 26, 1987.~

As a result of this meeting, the licensee submitted a subsequent letter' dated January 26, 1987 which responded to issues discussed during the meeting. The staff's safety evaluation reporting the resolution of this matter was issued by
