SUMMARY

OF MEETING HELD ON MAY 26, 1977 TO DISCUSS MARK II CONTAINMENT POOL DYNAMIC LOADS A meeting was held on May 26,1977 between representatives of the Mark II Owners, the General Electric Company and the NRC staff. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss draft questions prepared by the staff on Mark II topical reports recently submitted to the NRC. These reports include:

the 4-T test (phase 2 and 3), Analytical model Mark II pool swell phenomenon and the January 1977 applications memorandum. The attendees list is attached.

The major items discussed are as follows:

1. The draft questions were clarified and selected questions were deleted.

2. The Mark II owners were requested to revise the DFFR for the short term program to remove inconsistencies in the short term program load definition between the DFFR and the two Mark II

applications memorandum, i 3. We expressed concern that several of the current DFFR l

loads do not contain adequate margin for the short term program.

l These loads include: downcomer lateral loads, pool l boundary chugging loads and pool breakthrough elevation, We indicated that there was a need for additional discussions in the near future to resolve these concerns.

4. We requested General Electric to investigate coupling between the wetwell pool dynamic model and the drywell pressurization analytical model.

At the conclusion of the meeting, plans were discussed for a followup meeting _on June 14, 1977 to discuss the current data base and load structure interactions related to the downcomer lateral loads, the agenda for the proposed July Mark II owners group meeting, and the remaining undiscussed draft questions.
