This response is confined to our Brovns Ferry nuclear Plant only; a separcte response is being prepared for Sequoyah gf

2 Valves important to nuclear s Afety have been tabulated, and the enclosure denotes those valves for which TVA has records.
These records may be revieved by your inspectors et the site t.t any time after October 31, 1972.
Included also in the listins in the enclosure.cre '.alves which had their vall thicknesses censured and vitnessed, but for which we have no records of vcll thicknesses since this was not required by the codes and specifice.tions under which these valves were purchased.
For those valves for which records cre not currently available, ve -ill notify you by October 31, 1972, of the plans and tentative schedules.for their i=plementation to denonstrate that the vall thichnesses 'of the supelled valves neet the requirenents of the specifications and codes under which they were purchased.
A procedure for neasurerent of the vclves at the site vill te made availcble to your '.nspector after ::e chove' cited date.
Uc believe that your inquiry should not apply to forged-body valves since their tr..lls are nor.s.11y thicker than required, and nachining inherently insures a creater ' degree of unifornity than does the casting technique. The feedvater system is capable of r.aintaining pressure vessel vater level for breaks in lines smaller than these.
Tcerefore, we propose to licit our verification program to cast valves only and to veri ^/ vall thicknesses of valves larcer than two inches noninal pipe size in water lines.cnd larger than four inches nomi-nal pipe size in steam lines.
