This is in response to Regulatory Operations letter RO:ll:WSL 50-259/74-5 dated August 2, 1974, concerning certain activities at the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant unit 1 which appeared to be in violation of AEC requirements.

Abnormal Occurrence Report BFAO-7436 (copy enclosed), submitted on June 7, 1974, provided details concerning a spill of potentially contaminated water to an uncontrolled area. This report contains a description of the event including:

Corrective steps which have been taken and results achieved 2.

Corrective steps taken to avoid further violations The corrective action outlined in BFAO-7436 has been completed.

We have reviewed RO Inspection Report No. 50-259/74-5 and find no proprietary information in this report.
