83Ol-WTP-2-Q Revision 2 Page 3 of 7 Procedure for Training of SSIP/S Walkdown Team Members I. SCOPE This procedure describes the methods and steps to be followed to provide training of SSIP/S Walkdown Team members. The training described in this procedure applies to performance of SSIP/S walkdown of targets as described in the SSIP/S Program Manual (Reference A).
II. RESPONSIBILITIES The Project Manager shall be responsible for ensuring the implementation of this procedure for all walkdown team members assigned to the Project.
III. DEFINITIONS A. Program Manual " Program Manual: Spatial S.ystems Inter-action Program / Seismic, Midland Energy Center", Consumers Power Company, latest revision (Reference A).
B. Walkdown Team Leader - A walkdown team member who does not represent one of the required walkdown team disciplines, and is responsible for uniform site evaluations in accordance with the Program Manual. The walkdown team leader is also the administrative coordinator for the walkdown and approves all walkdown documentation.
.C. Walkdown Team Member - A technically experienced engineer from either the civil / structural, mechanical or piping / pipe support discipline. A walkdown team member shall have earned at least a bachelors degree in engineering, have at least 2 years of power plant design or analysis experience, and shall have successfully completed the requirements of the walkdown team member training as described in this procedure.
D. All other definitions for terms used in this procedure are given in the Program Manual.
IV. PROCEDURE A. The Proaact Manager shall perform or appoint an experienced walkdown engineer to perform the training in accordance with
8301-WTP-2-0 Revision 2 Page 4 of 7 this procedure prior to the walkdown team member participating on an SSIP/S Walkdown as a team member.
B. Personnel receiving training in accordance with this procedure shall be provided with approved copies of the progr am manual (Reference A) and the Procedure for Performing Wa'lkdowns (Reference B).
C. Trai ning f or on-site wal kdown of targets is provided, using Appendix D (MGJEC Procedure 8301-WTP-3-0, Procedure for Performing Walkdowns of SSIP/S Targets) of the Program Manual as the reference document. The training session is divided into two parts as follows:
- 1) Classroom training Discussions during the classroom training session shall address the following topics:
, o Quality Program Requirements (i.e., documentation, document and design control, etc.)
o Walkdown Team Composition o Source Acceptance Criteria (Appendix K of the Program Manual) o Interaction Effects Evaluation Criteria (Chapter VIII of the Program Manual) o Useful reference documentation o Program Exclusions (Chapter IX of the Program Manual) o Use of engineering judgment
- 2) In-Plant Trdining Discussions during the in-plant training session shall include the following:
o Identification and documentation of sample inter-actions, including postulated intermodular interactions o Identification of sample situations excluded by the SSIP/S o Identification of sample walkdown team treatment during the review of SSIP/S plant modifications.
8301-WTP-2-Q Revision 2 Page 5 of 7 Training. in the generation and use of the Interaction Identification Sheet (IIS) is provided, using Appendix I (MGJEC Procedure 8301-WTP-1-0, Procedure for Documentation of Postulated Interactions) of the Program Manual as the reference document.
D. Following' the complete training session, a written exam shall be administered to the trainees by the i ndi vi du~al conducting the training session. The exam shall be a true/ false type, and shall consist of 2 questions from each of the five categories of source components (Structural, Piping, Raceway, HVAC Duct System and Mechanical / Electrical Equipment Sources) regarding the source acceptance criteria, and 10 questions relative to general walkdown methodologies.
The trainee shall have the option of providing written clarification to any or all exam question answers. If the answer provided (true or f alse) is not the correct one, the Training Session Leader may approve the answer as correct if 3
written clarification was provided and found to be accept-able.
The trainees will be required to correctly answer 19 of the
] 20 exam questions in order to be qualified to participate on SSIP/S walkdowns.
A- sample Training Record and Exam Sheet is shown in Exhibit
- A. The completed and signed-off , training record shall become part of the employee's permanent training records.
