River Bend Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-458 Interim Report /DR-66 I On August 9, 1982, Gulf States Utilities Company (GSU) telephoned the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Region IV Office of a condition potentially reportable under 10CFR50.55(e) concerning linear indications found in the residual heat removal (RHR) system heat exchanger supports supplied by Teledyne Brown (DR-66). The indications were discovered during magnetic testing (MT) of welds joining thread plates to embedments for the supports.

All indications were in the edge of the thread plate. Liquid Penetration tests have been conducted to confirm the results of the MT. GSU has not completed its investigaticn at this time. An interim or final status report will be provided by Octobur 20, 1982.
