% On : January 19, .1988, Gulf States Utilities Company submitted a written report.of- a defect pursuant to the requirements of

- 10CFR21.21(b)(2). -This report described a defect in safety-related Limitorque valve operators at River Bend Station.

In the . report GSU committed to. inspect other sizes of motor operators, which were not initially found to contain the defect.

- This inspection was completed.during the second refueling outage at RBS. The inspection included all safety-related Limitorque

-operators. Defects similar to those described in GSU's initial

. report were found during this inspection. A list of the effected valve. mark numbers, Limitorque operator types, and valve descriptions is given in the Attachment. All defects were corrected prior to restart of the unit.

L This report is intended to supplement GSU's initial report on the same subject. GSU also notes that this subject was addressed by the NRC in Information Notice 88-27.
