Interim Report /DR-61 On June 18, 1982 Gulf States Utilities Company (CSU) notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) Region IV Office of a deficiency potentially reportable under 10CFR50.55(c) concerning the. length of the capscrew which holds the starting air valve assembly in the cylinder head of the River Bend Station standby emergency diesel generators supplied by Transamerica Delaval. Delaval previously informed the NRC of this potential deficiency pursuant 10CFR21. GSU committed in a letter to your office on July 19, 1982, to provide a status report by October 13, 1982. Since our submittal, we have been informed by our architect engineer, Stone & Webster, that the evaluation cannot proceed until construction around the. diesel generator building is complete. The current construction schedule precludes the inspection of the diesel generators until February 1963.
At that time, an inspection and replacement of the capscrews will tak6 place followed by the completion of the review for reportability. . A r.
interim or final status report will be provided by April 6, 1983.
