River Bend Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-458 Final Report /DR-85 On December 8, 1982, Gulf States Utilities Company (GSU).

notified Region IV of a condition potentially reportable under 10CFR50.55(e) concerning incorrect taper at welds between the outside diameter (0.D) of heavy. wall pipe fittings and the 0.D. of standard wall. pipe on the 30-inch Service Water Piping System (DR-85). GSU subsequently issued Interim Reports dated January 7,';1983; March.3, 1983; and May 16,.1983.

It has been determined that the weld contour used is acceptable for use in a piping system built to the requirements of ASME Section III. GSU concludes that had this condition remained uncorrected, it could not have adversely affected the safe operations of the plant and is therefore not reportable under 10CFR50.55(e). This concludes GSU's response on this subject.
