Testing of Power Operated Relief Valve (PORV) Block Valvos This letter provides an interim update of Omaha Public' Power District's (0 PPD) position for testing the PORV block valves as discussed in a telephone-conversation 15, 1989.
between the NRC (A. Bournia) and OPPD (T. Therkildsen) on December A replacement valve identical to the original- valves now in service will be procured and used by 0 PPD in a prototype test to verify operability of the existing valves. OPPD vendor inquiries to supply the Crane 21" 797-U replacement valve have confirmed that the expected delivery date is about one year. Upon receipt of written quotations from the vendor, OPPD will develop a schedule for procurement and subsequent testing of the valve and inform the NRC of this schedule update. The test results are expected to be completed during the second quarter of 1991.
