Clarification of Commitments Regarding Generic Letter 88-17 The purpose of-this letter is.to clarify Omaha Public' Power District's (OPPD) commitments regarding Generic Letter 88 17 (Reference 2).

'0 PPD's commitments in response to Generic Letter 88-17, including: actions to be implemented prior to mid-loop operation, were provided to NRC in References 3 and 41 Reference 5 (NRC Inspection Report-50-285/89-34) refers to additional p -modifications regarding' decay heat. removal which were not included in 0 PPD's Reference 3:and 4 commitments. These modifications were-discussed during NRC

i L Inspection 89-34 and are included in OPPD modification package MR-FC-89-019.. i m LAs discussed in a February 7,-1990 telephone conversation between OPPD and NRC, 1 0 PPD:did not commit to installation of MR-FC-89-019. This modification is .

. , being considered as a potential enhancement, and will be evaluated for possible t installation. OPPD will inform NRC by April 13,-1990 as to whether this modification-will be installed.

Reference 6 discusses the recent identification of conditions which will necessitate the revision of some corrective actions noted in the Reference 3  ;
