Atomic Safety and Licensing Board U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555 In the Matter of Puget Sound Power & Light Company, et al.,

(Skagit Nuclear Power Project Units 1 and 2)

Docket Nos. 50-522 and 50-523 Gentlemen:

This is Applicants' report to the Board pursuant to the Board's order of March 6, 1980 (paragraph 14.C).

As noted in the Board's order (paragraph 14.B) Puget, by its letter of February 15, 1980, has sought clarification from the Staff of the requests for additional information that ac-companied the Staff's letter of January 8, 1980. There have been preliminary discussions of these matters with the Staff.

Additional discussions are anticipated prior to issuance of any Staff response. It is thus too soon to make any reasonable estimate, as requested by the Board, of when hearings on geology and seismology might be rescheduled.

Iage 2 In parallel with the foregoing, Applicants are considering the possibility of amending their application in this proceed-ing to change the proposed site of the Skagit Project to a site on the Hanford Reservation in the State of Washington.

Applicants anticipate that they will be in a position to provide the Board with more specific information on these matters by May 30, 1980. Accordingly, we suggest this date for the next report.
