50-522 and 50-523 Proprietary Data Gentlemen:
We are attorneys for Puget Sound Power
& Light Company, the lead applicant in the above referenced proceeding.
On several occasions in 1975 and
- 1979, Puget submitted to the NRC proprietary geophysical data in conjunction with the licensing proceeding.
The dates of Puget's transmittal letters are listed on the enclosed Attachment A.
We have also enclosed for your reference copies of Puget's transmittal letters which describe the proprietary data.
With respect to all of these data, Puget requested that the data be withheld in whole from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790 and 10 CFR 9.5(a).
Puget's requests vere granted by the NRC in its letters dated January 12,
- 1976, April 30, 1979 and March 10, 1980.
These proprietary data concern the site located in Skagit, County, Washington.
On September 26, 1980, Applicants revised the application for the Skagit Nuclear Power Project to reflect the relocation of the project to a new site on the Hanford Reservation in Benton County, Washington.
The nev site is located approximately 200 miles southeast of the Skagit County site.

Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation December 15, 1980 Page Two The proprietary data, which are being withheld from public disclosure, relate to the Skagit County site and not to the new proposed site in Benton County.
Accordingly, the proprietary data have become irrelevant to the amended application, and are no longer necessary to the review of the application.
We re-quest that the proprietary data, including all copies of such
- data, be returned to Puget or to us as Puget's counsel pur-suant to the procedure set forth in 10 CFR 2.790(b)(5).
Our
- request, of course, includes copies in the hands of the NRC and its consultants.
Our request also includes any tracings or other duplications made of the proprietary data.
Prompt consideration of our request would be greatly appre-ciated.
