VTVYS1 05000271 LER 79-36/3L EVENT DESCRIPTION AND PROBABLE CONSEOUENCES During routine surveillance testing of the RCIC high steam line dif-ferential pressure switches, it was discovered that Dif ferential Pressure Switch DPIS 13-84 actuated at -196" of water. The switch is designed to show a high flow in either direction in the event of a steam line break and is required to actuate at a differential pressu e less than or equal to 195" of water (as per Tech. Spec. Table 3.2.2). The redundant High Differential Pressure Switch 13-83 wcs available and operable. Based on the above, there were no adverse consequences to the public health or safety as a result of this event. Similar events were reported as A0 72-09, A0 79-15, A0 73-18, RO 76-42, and RO 78-07.
