WNP-2 Exercise Public Briefing Notice Attached please find DRAFT copy of Notice of Public Briefing which we are required to have published prior to the WNP-2 Nuclear Plant Exercise to be held December 8, 1992.

You will note the Public Briefing is scheduled for Friday, December ll, at 10:30 a.m. in the Federal Building Auditorium in Richland, Washington.

Please review this briefing notice and advise us no later than September 30, 1992, if you have any input.

DRAFT BRIEFING NOTICE FEMA RX NTH RWD NEWS-ADV.857 B.l-ll 8-2 921 NOTICE OF PUBLIC BRIEFING On Friday, December 11, 1992, at 10:30 a.m., a public briefing will be held to discuss the performance of participants in the December 8, 1992, WNP-2 Nuclear Power Plant emergency exercise. The briefing will take place in the Auditorium, Federal Building, 825 Jadwin, Richland, Washington.

The public and news media are invited to attend the briefing.

Evaluation of off-site (outside power plant gates) emergency preparedness is the responsibility of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FEMA will release its preliminary findings and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will comment on actions taken at the plant itself by the licensee (Washington Public Power Supply System) during the exercise. Other exercise participants, in addition to the Washington Public Power Supply System, include the State of of Washington, and Benton and Franklin Counties, Washington. They will also be present to discuss their self-evaluations and any necessary remedial actions.

The exercise and briefing process is part of a required program of emergency preparedness necessary to obtain and maintain the plant's operating license and to assure an adequate ability to protect the public's health and safety.
