Dear Mr. Parker:

Your letter of November 15, 1979, stated that if further analysis did not confirm that the reactor cavity seal ring would not become a destructive missilIe, then by the next refueling outage for each Oconee Unit, you would either (1) firmly attach the seal ring so it cannot become a missile hazard or (2) remove it to an area where it will pose no missle hazard.

We have learned from Mr. Frank Jape, our resident inspector at the Oconee Nuclear Station, that you have elected to remove the seal ring and store it in an area where it will not become a missile hazard. We understand that you have already completed this activity for Units 1 and 2 and that

We have concluded that this safety issue has been satisfactorily resolved for the Oconee Nuclear Station.
