REVISION OF SCHEDULE FOR THE CONDUCT OF ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW OF THE SOUTH TEXAS PROJECT LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NOS. ME5122, ME5123, ME4938, AND ME4939)
Dear Mr. Rencurrel:
By letter dated October 25, 2010, STP Nuclear Operating Company submitted an application pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 54 (10 CFR Part 54), to renew operating licenses NPF-76 and NPF-80 for the South Texas Project (STP), Units 1 and 2, for review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff). This letter is to inform you about a schedule change in the STP license renewal review.
On August 10, 2012, the NRC revised the environmental review schedule showing future environmental dates as "to be determined" in order to allow the staff to determine the impacts of a United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia decision on the NRC waste confidence rule update (10 CFR 51.23). The NRC has completed its evaluation and subsequently issued the draft supplemental environmental impact statement for STP license renewal. The enclosed schedule has been updated to reflect updates to future environmental review milestones.
