REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RE: SECURITY PLAN REVIEW (TAC NOS. MC8690 AND MC8691)

Dear Mr. Palmisano:

By letter dated July 25, 2005, Nuclear Management Company, LLC (NMC) submitted Revision 1 to the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant (PINGP) Security Plan. By letter dated March 1, 2006 (ADAMS Accession No. ML060550437), and subsequent telephone conversations and meetings with your staff, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff requested additional information in order to complete its review of your submittal. By letter dated May 17, 2006 (ADAMS Accession No. ML061420242), you provided NMC's response, in part, to the request for additional information. The NRC staff has completed its review of your May 17, 2006, submittal, and provides the enclosed response for NMC consideration.

The NRC staff also understands that NMC has determined that a revision to the PINGP Security Plan is necessary to completely address the NRC staffs request for additional information and consolidate existing revisions of the Security Plan. As per the discussions your representatives had with NRC staff on June 27, 2006, please submit 73.55(a) request within 30 days of receipt of this letter. If you have further questions, please contact me at (301) 415-8371.

Sincerely,

/RA/
