Thank you for your letter dated June 1,1990, informing us of the status of your actions to fulfill comitments made to the NP.C. The commitments were documented in NRC Inspection Report 50-458/89-45 and dealt with the dual coil solenoid operated va"..es used to control the main steam isolation valves. We found your actions to date, to be acceptable. We will review the completion of the required actions during a subsequent inspection.

Actions to be taken by GSU were dcx umented in IR 89-45. 'Ihe following is a status of those actions.
IR 89-45 "The SOVs will be tested on approximately nonthly intervals until the mid-cycle outage."
Status:
Completed.
Testing of the dual coil SOVs was

performed nonthly prior to the mid-cycle outage.
IR 89-45 "The SOVs will be replaced with SOVs of a different j
design during the mid-cycle outage if replacment SOVs are available."

Status:
During the mid-cycle outage the dual coil SOVs on one inboard and one outboard MSIV were replaced with single coil SOVs.

Status:
The r maining six dual coil SOVs will be replaced by single coil SOVs during the next refueling outage if the testing of the single coil SOVs proves thm to be a satisfactory replacement. hsting of the dual coil SOVs will continue on nonthly intervals.
