Inspection on May 1-4, 1979 Areas Inspected This routine, unannounced inspection involved 24 inspector-hours on-site in the areas of Unit I steel structures and supports work and quality records, and Units 1 and 2 progress of installation of safety-related major mechanical components.

Results Of the arcac inspected, no apparent items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.

Independent Inspection Effort-Units 1 and 2 The progress of the installation of the major safety-related mechanical components was inspected.

This included the reactor vessel, control rod drive mechanisms, recirculation loop valves, and pumps, and the drywell, suppression pool interface structural and functional items.

The seismic design for hangers of the 16 inch line into the top of the RHR beat exchanger B001A was also inspected.

Bechtel drawing HL1348CR1, " System Piping Iso RHR Heat Exchanger 1 to 2,

' A' and 'B' Areas 7 and 8 Auxiliary Building-Unit 1", was reviewed and used to identify hanger number QlE12G009R06 and stress analysis

Containment (Steel Structures and Supports)-Work Observation-Unit 1 The RER heat exchanger's structural steel lower and upper supports were selected for inspection. The following drawings were reviewed and used to verify locations, orientation details and installation requirements of these supports: GE762E987, sheets 2 and final of 2, titled, " Heat Exchanger-RHR System"; Bechtel C-1365DR6, " Unit 1 Auxiliary Building Structural Steel Sections and Details"; and, Bechtel G1365ER7, " Unit 1 Aaxiliary Building Structural Steel Plans, Sections and Details".

The installation of the four heat exchangers on their lower supports and the partially completed upper supports were inspected for receipt and storage conditions and for erection, testing and inspection progress.

No items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.

Containment (Steel Structures and Supports)-Review of Quality Records-Unit 1 The following records of the inspected supports were reviewed, which confirmed the quality requirements for records of material tests and certifications, vendor manufacturing and inspection records, receiving inspection reports and tests of structural steel where applicable: Bechtel Form, " Material Receiving Instruction and Inspection a.
