\ Inspection Scope and Sumary l

.

The Duke Power Company Crisis Management Center (CMC) was activated on the morning of April 26, 1988, to conduct a tabletop emergency exercise. The

purpose of the exercise was to address certain NRC identified weaknesses from the February 19-20, 1988 Catawba Exercise. The inspector noted that

the tabletop exercise was conducted as a seminar with discussions focused ,

on the correct actions that should have been taken in response to the '

, February 19-20, 1988 Catawba scenario. The training seminar appeared i

i effective as a followup to an energency action level and emergency classification training session conducted on April 19, 1988. It was also effective in demonstrating the need for additional training regarding the process for transmitting information to the States and countie An

scheduled during September 1988.
