As followup to IEB 79-13, the inspector performed the following inspections:
a.
Radiographic (RT) Film Review
,
RT inspection of the main feedwater and auxiliary feedwater nozzle to pipe weld areas after hot functional testing, as required by
,
paragraph 1 of the Bulletin, is in process.
The RT is being performed by the Canam Inspection Division of NES to the require-

to the 1977 edition of article NC-5000 of Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel code except that the 2T penetrameter sensitivity level is being used.
The inspector reviewed the completed film for the welds listed below which covered all of auxiliary feedwater nozzle to piping welds and adjacent base material:
ISO Line Weld SE-EF-10 904 FW-12 SE-EF-11 904 FW-11 SE-EF-12 904 FW-9 At the time of the inspection, RT of the main feedwater welds had not been completed.
Preliminary radiographs had ben made and revealed trash inside the nozzle in the weld area.
In addition the feedwater nozzle flow restrictors masked part of the area of interest (base material for 2 weld thicknesses on either side of the weld) on the nozzle side of the welds.
Attempts to remove the trash inside the nozzles are in process.
The licensee agreed to attempt to RT through the flow restrictors and obtain a 2T sensitivity level 2 wall thicknesses from the center of the weld.
,
Where the 2T sensitivity level can't be obtained, supplementary ultrasonic inspection will be performed.
The inspector reviewed the preliminary RT film for the following welds:
ISO Line Weld SE-FW-15 902 FW-15 SE-FW-14 909 FW-14 b.
Inspection of Supports cnd Snubbers The inspector discussed the inspection of feedwater system supports
'
and snubbers, as required by paragraph 1.c. of the Bulletin, with
responsible licensee personnel.
The licensee stated that their i
,
intention is to use the extensive inspection performed during hot
'
functional testing to satisfy this requirement.
This inspection verified operability and design as required by the Bulletin.
i Within the areas inspected, no violations or deviations were identifit:d.
