Bassett on December 12-16, 198 The inspection included a review of activities authorized for your Surry facilit At the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed with those members of your staff identified in the enclosed Inspection Repor Areas. examined during the inspection are identified in the repor Within th~se areas, the inipection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of activities in progres The inspection findings indicate that certain activiti~s appeared to violate NRC requirement The violations, references to pertinent ~equirements, and elements to be included in your response are described in the enclosed Notice of Violation; We believe that a contributing factor to Violation B was an inappropriate level of dependence on past experience which resulted in nonconservative radiation protection actions when the radiological conditions were different 'from those previously encountered. This was also identified as a contributing factor to. a violation previously cited* in Inspection Report No. 50-280, 281/88-1 Please give particular attention in your response to actions that will be taken to assure that radiological controls for jobs are*
