On February 19th,.1988, representatives Of NRC and the Veterans Administration

  • (VA): set in Washington, D. C., to discuss aspects of the VAMC Hines case'and other issues that were of autual' concern. As a result of this meeting the VA agreed to consider the need for making improvements in the sanagement of their licensed activities. A part.of this plan, the VA has spent the past year
developing and implementing a management plan designed to improve their.

inspection history. The VA's plan also includes a unifore' radiation. safety procedures plan to be used for auditing their programs.

To~ improve connunications, IMAB has established a point of contact to facilitate the flow of information to the VA's Central Office and Nuclear Medicine Service.

This meeting will inform NRC represen,tatives of VACO progress in resolving issues that were discussed in 1988.
