100' Elevation Containment Air Lock - Inoperable.

This repurt was initiated by Incident Report 82-130.

CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Mode 1 - Rx Power 96% - Unit Load 1090 MWe.

DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

On May 22, 1982, during routine surveillance, an operator discovered that the leakage rate of the 100' Elevation Containment Air Lock exceeded Technical Specification limits.

The air lock was declared inoperable, and at 0508 hours0.00588 days <br />0.141 hours <br />8.399471e-4 weeks <br />1.93294e-4 months <br />, Action Statement 3.6.1.3.a was entered.

This occurrence constituted operation in a degraded mode in accordance with Technical Specification 6.9.1.9.b.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

The inner door latch mechanism had failed causing the excessive containment air lock leakage.

ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

Technical Specification 3.6.1.3.a requires:

CORRECTIVE ACTION

The operator immediately closed the outer air lock door.in compliance with the Technical Specification.

The latch mechanism was properly repaired, and the air lock was satisfactorily tested.

At 1230 hours0.0142 days <br />0.342 hours <br />0.00203 weeks <br />4.68015e-4 months <br />, May 22, 1982, the 100' Elevation Containment Air Lock was declared operable, and Action Statement 3.6.1.3.a was terminated.
