130' Elevation Containment Air Lock - Inoperable.

This report was initiated by Incident Report 82-126.

CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Mode 1 - Rx Power 100% - Unit Load 1150 MWe.

DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

On May 18, 1982, during routine surveillance, an operator discovered that the leakage rate of the 130' Elevation Containment Air Lock exceeded Technical Specification limits.

The air lock was declared inoperable at 0300 hours0.00347 days <br />0.0833 hours <br />4.960317e-4 weeks <br />1.1415e-4 months <br />, and Action Statement 3.6.1.3.a was entered.

This occurrence constituted operation in a degraded mode in accordance with Technical Specification 6.9.1.9.b.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

An improperly positioned inner door seal caused thc excessive containment air lock leakage.

ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

Technical Specification 3.6.1.3.a requires:

With one containment air lock door inoperable, maintain at least the operable air lock door closed and restore the inoperable air lock door to operable status within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />, or be in at least hot standby within the next 6 hours6.944444e-5 days <br />0.00167 hours <br />9.920635e-6 weeks <br />2.283e-6 months <br /> and in cold shutdown within the following 30 hours3.472222e-4 days <br />0.00833 hours <br />4.960317e-5 weeks <br />1.1415e-5 months <br />.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

The operator immediately closed the outer air lock door in compliance with the Technical Specification.

The inner door seal was properly positioned, and the air lock was satisfactorily tested.

At 1402 hours0.0162 days <br />0.389 hours <br />0.00232 weeks <br />5.33461e-4 months <br />, May 18, 1982, the 130' Elevation Containment Air Lock was declared operable, and Action Statement 3.6.1.3.a was terminated.
