, 3) ULNRC-3270 dated i September 26, 1995 NRC Bulletin 89-01 required licensees to repair or remove steam generator mechanical tube plugs i,

fabricated from thermally treated Inconel 500 material.

j- In Reference 3, we committed to remove all

Alloy 600 hot leg plugs during the Spring 1992

refueling outage. However, due to problems with the i- removal process, the Alloy 600 plugs were repaired by l 4

installation of welded Inconel 690 plugs. This i information was provided to the NRC in Reference 2.

. Reference 3 committed to repair or replace

] the cold leg plugs during Refuel 8 (Fall 1996) or Refuel 9 (Spring 1998). All Westinghouse Alloy 600 i-plugs in the cold legs were replaced with mechanical Inconel 690 plugs during Refuel 8.

All actions required by Bulletin 89-01 have therefore been completed. If you have any questions concerning this information, please contact us.
