FERMI II NUCLEAR STATION - REFERENCE REGION III INSP. REPORT 50-341/82-14(DETP) l REPORT NUMBER: Q3-83-007 The purpose of tt.is Inquiry was to determine if an investigation should be conducted relating to the firing of a L. K. Comstock and Company, Inc. QC inspector at the Enrico Fermi II Nuclear Station in Monroe, Michigan in September 1982. On September 27, 1982, W. S. KITTLE, Chief. Engineerin Inspection
- anch, Region III, advised that a Comstock QC inspector named was fired from his position during the same time period that the NR was con-ducting an inspection (reference (a) pertains) relating to allegations made by Perkins.
On April 20, 1983, Investigator R. A. MATAKAS interviewed J. E. FOSTER, who at the inception of this Inquiry was the Acting Director of the Office of Inv n, Chicago Field Office. FOSTER advised that he st s ke to on November ,1982. He id sho ly after was fired rom his job in he was advised rmi II Senior Resident Inspector (SRI) Bruce LITTL, that le cou e of action was to file a complaint with the Department of Labor if believed t termination was a result of his contact with the (wherein reported construction and other 0C discrepancies to the N ). STER said that during his contact withM on November 24, 1982, said that he had filed a complaint with the Department of Labor concerni g his termination from Comstock and hearing date was set for January 1983. FOSTER said that he ask if there was anything further the C coi d do for him and that responded "no". FOSTER s id t t agreed to keep in touch with him_ but he never heard from after vember 24, 1982.
