SUBJECT:
ALLEGATION:
DRYLABING INSPECTIONS, AITS RIII-85-A-0039 On February 28, 1985, DRP was informed that an allegation had been received from the Fermi site via an 01 investigator who was onsite February 27th.
We were advised by 01 that in speaking with a level ES ins tor @,
he alleged that he heard that another NES inspector

We understand tha worked at the site during the Itime frame and that he s currently employed at the Nine Mil oint Un facility.
Subsequently, Messrs. Kalkman, Knop and Ward called the alleger M on I
February 28, 1985.
He stated he had no first hand infomation re a doing inspec-tions at his desk.

He reiterated that he believed was fired for not carrying a calibra-tion block during his UT inspec ions.

Interview th alle er and others who performed similar work to that conducted by or who were familiar with his work.

Ask the Detroit Edison Company about this individual to determine what type of work was done and during what period of time.
Also, in view of the allegation that the individual was fired for improper activities, detemine if any additional actions are required.

Talk to Safeteam to determine if there were any similar allegations that relate to this individual on this type of work, which have already been reviewed by them.

Determine what additional steps, if any, are required.
6.
Request Senior Resident inspector at Nine Mile Point to talk with to determine the time of work at Fermi and the type of work perfomed.

Depending on the time and sequence of the above, we need to make a detemination of the impact on the hardware involved that may affect a decision as to whether or not to recomend a license.

It was also alleged that QC inspectors who objected to this practice were harassed
& intimida.ted. The sub-contractor is Weismer/Becker. ECD Unknown.
10/31/84 - No Change t.'

11/30/84 - 01:RIII has made several attempts to locate the Weismer/Becker alleger with no success to date.
12/31/84 - This allegation is under active 01:RIII investigation by I'nvestigator J. Kalkman. Estimated completion date is April 1985.
01/31/85 - Plans are being made to interview alleger as soon as possible.
l 02/28/85 - Unsuccessful attempts have been made to locate a former Wismer & Becker weld supervisor re:
intimidation. Additional interviews are anticipated.
