May 5, 2023 EA-22-101 R. Keith Brown Regulatory Affairs Director Southern Nuclear Operating Co., Inc.

3535 Colonnade Parkway Birmingham, AL 35243 SUBJECT: REISSUE - FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 - FINAL SIGNIFICANCE DETERMINATION FOR A SECURITY-RELATED GREATER THAN GREEN FINDING, NOTICE OF VIOLATION AND ASSESSMENT FOLLOWUP LETTER, INSPECTION REPORT 05000348/2023440 AND 05000364/2023440

Dear Keith Brown:

On March 30, 2023, the NRC issued the Final Significance Determination for a Security-Related Greater Than Green Finding, Notice of Violation and Assessment Followup Letter, Inspection Report (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Numbers ML23068A078 (non-public) and ML23089A399). In reviewing this report, we identified an editorial change to the Cover Letter with respect to the Quarter during which Farley Nuclear Plant was placed in the Degraded Cornerstone Column. Specifically, Page 2 of the cover letter states that the finding described in the report places Farley Nuclear Plant in the Degraded Cornerstone Column beginning the Third Quarter of 2022. Because the inspection re-exit meeting for the initial characterization of the finding as an apparent violation was in the Fourth Quarter, specifically, October 25, 2022, the finding described in the report places Farley Nuclear Plant, Units 1&2, in the Degraded Cornerstone Column of the Action Matrix beginning the Fourth Quarter of 2022. The attached reissued report has been revised to reflect this information and the NRC public website has also been updated accordingly. We request that the cover letter and report be replaced with the Enclosures to this letter.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding, of the NRC's Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room, or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of ADAMS; accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room). R. However, the material enclosed herewith contains Security-Related Information in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390(d)(1), and its disclosure to unauthorized individuals could adversely affect security. Therefore, the material in the Enclosures will not be made available for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or in ADAMS, accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

Please contact Jannette Worosilo at 404-997-4485 with any questions you have regarding this letter.
