Date: Thursday, February 9, 2023 2:20:00 PM Attachments: RAIs WEC Ash Part1.docx

Dear Patrick Donnelly:

By letter dated December 2, 2022, Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC (WEC) submitted a request for a temporary license amendment for storage of specific Hematite ash at its Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) in Hopkins, South Carolina (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML22336A174).

In conducting a detailed review of the license transfer request, we have identified a technical area where additional information is needed in order to make a determination of the adequacy of your request. The specific area where additional information is needed is stated in the enclosure to this email.

Please submit your response to this request for additional information by March 9th. A clarification call was held February 8, 2023. There were no changes to the draft RAI as a result of the call. Upon receipt of complete RAI responses, the NRC staff will develop a revised schedule for the licensing review, as needed.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.390 of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC) Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room, or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS.

The ADAMS database is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
