Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR 22 On May 5, 1973 during routine surveillance testing, the ill Emorg Diesel Cenerator failed to start on the #1 starting system. Subsequently e engine '

was successfully started using the #2 starting systan.

Observation of the #1 starting system indicated that the starting motors were not cranking the ensino at the proper speed. The cause of the problem has not been detennined; the investigation is continuing.
