REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL EXTENSION OF TIME On August 5, 1983, the Appeal Board granted Applicant's motion to extend the time for answering Joint Intervenors' Motion to Reopen Contention 22. Applicant's answer is now due September 9, 1983, and the- Staf f 's -answer is due September 15, 1983.

Applicant had requested the extension so that the parties and the Appeal Board woulI have access to an engineering analysis report which was expected by September 1, 1983. We have sub-sequently learned that the independent engineering firm which is conducting the evaluation will require additional time to complete its work, and that the report is now scheduled for

! September 15, 1983. Accordingly, Applicant requests that the .,,

Joint Intervenors and counsel for the Staff have stated that they do not o'ppose this request. Staff counsel has indicated that, in view of the delay in the issuance of the report, the Staff will also be filing a request for an extension of time to file its answer to Joint Intervenors' motion.

Applicant will provide the Appeal Board and the parties with copies of the report when it is received.
