Introduction Eecause of some results obtained by Westinghouse during the last half of 1976, while conducting the Sensor Qualification Program, Vepco undertook with the cooperation of Westinghouse and Rosemount Inc. to test Rosemount Model 1152 Differential Pressure Transmitters operational perfotmance under
~
LOCA and Post LOCA Test requirements. The Rosemount Model 1152 transmitters had previously been tested satis-factorily for all environmental conditions except for chemical spray during the temperature-pressure severe environment tests and the differences in the test envelope. Previous test information is contained in Rosemount Report No. 117415. The tests were conducted by Westinghouse PSRSD Process and Control Board Group and Forest Hills Test Operations at the Westinghouse Forest Hills test facility. B. Test Facility The test facility was designed and constructed by Forest Hills Test Opera-tions unQr the cognizance of Mr. M. McGuire, and Mr. M. Slafka. The facility consists of: The Trip Test Steam Supply System, Trip Test Chemical Spray System, Test Article Environmental Chambers, The Severe Environment Steam Supply System, and a High Pressure Nitrogen Supply System. Monitoring of the facilities test parameters consists of multi-point recorders, digital volt meters, and a digital data logger, along with the required redundancy of these systems, plus an emergency power back-up system. C. Calibration Fcrest Hills Test Operations performs calibration of all instrumentation and test articles in the Standards Laboratory located on site, under the direc-tion cf Mr. John Martin. All test articles receive pre and post test cali-brations utilizing the SAMA 20.1, 1973, Standard with NBS certification of all equipment used in the laboratory. D. Transmitter Description Tests were performed on two different groups of Rosemount production Model 1152 transmitters at different times, each group consisted of three (3) transmitters . Test Sunua-ies Two of the three 1152 transmitters in Group I failed approximately 43 hrs. into the test. Evaluation showed the cause to be failure of plastic pack diodes used as polarity protectors for the electronic cards. The Group II 1152 transmitters were later ' tested using glass pack diodes and stainless steel hcusings. All th* Group II transmitters successfully completed the 15 day trip and severe environment test. The attached. test data shows the maximum transmitter error early in the test was approximately 55 mins. into the test and was approximately -8.0%. One transaitter has an error of -14% at 13 days, but the other two transmit-ters indicated less 25 error at that time. F. Transmitter Cable Entrance Seal A drawing is included of the seal which was also tested with the Rosemount transaittars. Fricr to the autoclave test, a fitting made up as shown.in the drawing was hydrostatically tested to 75.psig with no leakage. During the hydro test, the wire ends were exposed to the trat pressure which verified that no leakage appeared through the stranded conductors. 1617 0125

Three pressure transmitters model 1152, serial numbers 68460, 68461 & 68462, were received from Westinghouse where they were tested under steam / chemical environment. This test was done for VEPC0 in order to qualify Rosemount inodel 1152 for nuclear application. At Rosemount, the units were tested and inspected at room temperature. The units were clean, no leakage detected, and stable. The deviation in calibrations between before and after the exposure to steam chemical spray is shown in the follcwir.g table.
