Utility Finance Branch p Division of Engineering A g Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 Tennessee Valley Authority Browns Ferry Nuclear Station NELIA Policy No. NF-198; MAELU Policy No. MF-66

Dear Ira:

Last February the nuclear underwriters received a request from TVA to amend the site description on the captioned facility form policies.

After a series of reviews and revisions, the site description presented below was developed. We are satisfied with this description because we believe it retains all directly nuclear related buildings and structures onsite and places offsite certain buildings and structures which are not directly related to the nuclear operations. The major items in this latter category are the Biothermal Research building, the Greenhouse, the G/H Service / Office building and some warehouses.

Here is the new site description:

All of the premises including the land and all buildings and structures of Tennessee Valley Authority's Browns Ferry Nuclear Station shown as being within the heavy black lines on a reduced copy of Tennessee Valley Authority's drawing number 67-C-10E200-01 dated October 17, 1980, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof. Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Station is located approximately ten miles southwast of Athens, Alabama and ten miles northwest of Decatur, Alabama.

We intend to make this site description effective October 7,1981 based, of course, on the approval of the NRC.

However, when. we spoke on October 7 you mentioned you already have some. material on this request in your file and I assume the- drawing is included.

Please send your approval or comments on this matter as soon as possible.

Also, I should mention that similar requests have been received for Watts Bar, Sequoyah and Bellefonte. Information on these matters will be
