Dear Dr. Copan:

By letter dated September 23, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System

[ADAMS] Accession Number ML19269B774), you provided the triennial update to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. This was supplemented by letter dated November 27, 2019 (ADAMS Accession No. ML19336A002), from the Radiation Safety Officer, Mr. Manny Mejias.

Our review has identified that additional information is needed before final action can be taken on your submittal. The additional information, specified in the enclosure, should be provided within 30 days from receipt of this letter. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff anticipates completing its review and developing a safety evaluation report to address the submittal within 30 days after adequate response to this request for additional information.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding, of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room, or from the Publicly Available Records component of NRCs ADAMS.
