DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF STANDARDS AND TECHNOLOGY TRIENNIAL - 2022 UPDATE TO DECOMMISSIONING FUNDING PLAN - SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION NEEDED (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER L-2022-DFA-0010)

Dear Dr. Locascio:

In accordance with requirements in Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR)

Paragraph 70.25(e), the Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology, provided the 2022 triennial update to its Decommissioning Funding Plan, by letter dated September 27, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Number ML22293A269) to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for review and approval.

The NRC staff performed an acceptance review of your application to determine whether the application contains sufficient technical information in scope and depth to allow the staff to complete the detailed technical review. The purpose of this letter is to advise you that additional technical information is needed for the NRC staff to complete the acceptance review of your license application. The information needed to complete the acceptance review is described in the enclosure to this letter. Please provide a formal response within 25 business days of receipt of this letter. Note that the formal technical review of the license application will be placed on hold pending receipt of the necessary supplemental information. A review schedule will be provided once the acceptance letter is issued. If the information described is not received by this date, the application will not be accepted for review.

In accordance with 10 CFR, Section 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
