rissicn en August 23, 1978, the Craha Public Power District herewith submits five (5) copies of a document entitled " Fort Calhoun Unit #1 Alternate Shutdown Capability Conceptual Design Description". Tne docurert describes modifications aired at providing alternate shut-down capability, independent of cabling in she cable spreading roc and centrol roc , which will preserve safe shutdown capability in the event of a fire in either area.
Tne Cc-ission is respectfully requested to provide a timely review of the enclosed design description in order that =cdifications may proceed according to schedule. Due to the extensive fire pro-tection system redifications scheduled for cctpletion during the January,1980, refuelinr outage and in view of the complexity of the codifications described in the attachment to this letter, it is ant l-cipated that this modification vill be installed during the 1981 refueling currently scheduled to begin March 1,1981.
