SUMMARY

OF A TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON JUNE 28, 2005, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND FIRSTENERGY NUCLEAR OPERATING COMPANY, CONCERNING CLARIFICATION OF INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE NRC LETTER DATED MARCH 24, 2005, RESULTS OF ACCEPTANCE REVIEW OF THE BEAVER VALLEY POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff (NRC or the staff) and representatives of FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) held a telephone conference call on June 28, 2005, to discuss and clarify the staffs comments concerning the Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2, previous license renewal application. The conference call was useful in clarifying the staffs examples of deficiencies found in the license renewal application. The following items were discussed: (1) Components in scope - Section 2; (2) Fatigue Monitoring Program; (3) Application tables and notes; (4) Steam Generator Tube Inspection; (5) Risk Assessment - profiles and unit differences; (6) Boric Acid Program - management vs. detection; (7) Stress corrosion cracking vs. fatigue; and (8) Checklist items. provides a listing of the telephone conference call participants.
