Subject: Inspection No. 50-134/92-01  :

An inspection of the radiation protection program at your facility was conducted on

November 4-5,1992 by Mr S. Holmes. Discussions of our findings were held by Mr.

Holmes and Mr. T. Dragoun with you and members of your staff at the conclusion of this

inspection.

Areas reviewed during inis inspection are important to public health and safety and are

described in the enclosed inspection report. The areas examined included dosimetry,

instrument calibration, radiation surveys and postings, staffing, procedures and policy,

training, and Safety Committee oversight. Within these areas the inspection consisted of

observations by the inspector, selective examinations of procedures and representative

records, and interviews with personnel.

Within the scope of this review, we noted that staffing, Safety Committee oversight,

postings, and personnel dosimetry were good. However, we noted that written procedures

for some health physics operations were not formalized. Your staff agreed to review this

matter and to folloc up on an issue with potential safety significance related to the

calibration of a neutron meter. We will evaluate your actions on these matters during a

future inspection. No violations of regulatory requirements were identified. No reply to

this letter is required.
