AMENDMENT N0. 8 TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE R-61 The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 8 to Facility Operating License No. R-61 for the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Research Reactor. The amendment consists of changes to the Technical Specifications in response to your application dated September 8,1983, as supplemented by your letter dated July 26, 1984 This amendment changes 'the beta-garra range for portable survey instruments in the control room from 0.01 nrems/hr-50 nrens/hr to 1.0 mrems/hr-50 rems /hr. Th's amendment also changes the ranges of energency portable monitors located outside the reactor room fren 2 nrens/hr-50 mrems/hr to 10 mrems/hr-50 rems /hr.

A copy of the Safety Evaluation is also enclosed.
