Dear Mr. Watzl:

We have received the enclosed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) correspondence dated September 6,1996, transmitting the FEMA evaluation report for the May 14,1996 Biennial Radiological Emergency Preparedness Exercise at the Prairie Island Nuclear Power Station. ,

No deficiencies were observed during this exercise. However, five Areas Requiring Corrective Action (ARCAs) were identified.

Additionally, we have received the enclosed FEMA correspondence dated November 27, 1996, transmitting an errata sheet for the May 14,1996 Biennial Radiological Emergency -

Preparedness Exercise Final Report.  !

We fully recognize that any corrective actions to be implemented may involve parties and political institutions which are not under your direct control. Nonetheless, we expect that  !

assistance,if appropriate, will be extended.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed FEMA correspondence will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
