NRC. INSPECTION REPORT 72-10/99001(DNMS)
Dear Mr. Wadley:

On April 13,1999, the NRC completed a special inspection of the loading of the eighth and
I
ninth dry fuel storage casks at your Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant. The resu!ts of this
inspection were discussed on March 11 and April 13 with members of your staff. The enclosed
report presents the results of that inspection.

The purpose of the inspection was to obsera various portions of the dry fuel cask loading
program.
Based on the results of this inspection, no violations of NRC requirements were identified.
Overall, the loading of the eighth and ninth dry fuel storage casks was performed well.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its
enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
