The subject letter addressed NRC staff's discussion with General Electric relating to Control Rod Drive (CRD) system modifications related to the elimination of cracking in the CRD return line nozzle.

After receipt of your letter, we received a copy of NUREG 0619, "BWR Feedwater Nozzle and Control Rod Drive Return Line Nozzle Cracking,"

for comment.

On June 12, 1980, we received a letter dated June 6,1980., from hir. Darrell G. Eisenhut (NRC) addressed to hir. H. P. Lyle (NIPSCO) which stated, in part, "the staff will evaluate the comments received and, if needed, will issue a supplement or revision to NUREG 0619. The target for issuing the supplement or revision is late August 1980. "
