This is in response to Mr. Fiorelli's letter of July 19, 1979, which forwarded IE Inspection Report No. 50-461/79-06 detailing the findings of the NRC/R0 III inspection conducted at Illinois Power Company's Clinton Power Station site on June 4-7, 1979.IP's response to the three items of noncompliance identified in the report is described below and correlates directly to the sequential listing in Appendix A to your letter.

1.The Baldwin Associates' Receiving Inspection Instruction has been revised to include the requirement that all physical damage to structural steel will be documented for necessary correction.

Safety-related structural steel received to date has been reinspected and damaged items have been processed in accordance with the revised Receiving Inspection Instruc-tion.2.Zack, Incorporated's Welding Procedure Specification CB-QCP 22 has been revised to correctly reference Part A of AWS Dl.1, Section 5.
