Dear Mr. Hanson:

By letter dated December 16, 2016 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML 16356A012), you submitted four affidavits. Two affidavits were dated October 7, 2016, and two affidavits were dated December 7, 2016, and were executed by Gayle Elliott of AREVA Inc., requesting that the information contained in the following documents be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Part 2, Section 2.390: Engineering Information Record, 51-9238120-002, "PWSCC Evaluation of UHP Cavitation Peening for Byron and Braidwood Reactor Vessel Head Penetrations," dated October 7, 2016 Calculation Summary Sheet, 32-9241722-001, "Byron & Braidwood Peening Residual Plus Operating Stress Analysis," dated October 7, 2016 Special Process Qualification Record, 150-8086004-001, "Qualification of the Cavitation Peening Process for Reactor Vessel Closure Head (RVCH) Nozzles," dated December 7, 2016 Engineering Information Record, 51-8092600-000, "Summary Report, RVCH Peening Implementation, Byron, Unit 2," dated December 7, 2016 The affidavits state that the submitted information should be considered exempt from mandatory public disclosure for the following reasons: (c) The information includes test data or analytical techniques concerning a process, methodology, or component, the application of which results in a competitive advantage for AREVA. (d) The information reveals certain distinguishing aspects of a process, methodology, or component, the exclusive use of which provides a competitive advantage for AREVA in product optimization or marketability.
