MEMORANDUM FOR:
E. Adensam, Chief Licensing Branch No. 4, DL FROM:
M. Srinivasan, Chief Power Systems Branch, DSI
SUBJECT:
STATUS OF PSB ITEMS - GRAND GULF TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS REVIEW MEETING APRIL 27, 1984
REFERENCE:
T. Novak's memo of April 25,1984 to L. Rubenstein, et al In response to the above referred memo, it is PSB's assessment that the following actions are required by MP&L to resolve the issues raised by PSB from the review of Grand Gulf technical specifications as stated in the meeting with MP&L held on April 27, 1984 Problem 1 Tech. Spec. Table 3.3.3-1 The FSAR gave two levels of voltage protection for HPCS diesel generator bus one for loss of power and the other for degraded voltage; MP&L hac since changed the design.
Licensee Action (MP&L will assign a problem sheet for resolving this issue)
Problem 2 Tech. Spec. 3/4 8-4 Load rejection values for diesel generator deviate from FSAR values (LPCS pump is the largest load to be rejected)
Licensee Action (MP&L will modify the FSAR and the technical specification to reflect the actual load values and justify the value)
Problem 3 Tech. Spec. 3/4 8-6 Diesel generator bypass of trips on LOCA - overcurrent is not bypassed nor does it have coincident logic Licensee Action (MP&L have a problem sheet #808 for resolving this item) p

hroblem 4 Tech. Spec. 3/4 8-6 FSAR st'ated override of the design was such that if the diesel generator #3 was in the test mode and a LOCA signal occurred, the diesel generator would revert to standby mode (the tech spec. indicates this design feature is not included).
Licensee Action (MP&L have assigned problem sheet 333 for resolution of this item)

Problem 5 Tech. Spec. 3/4 8-11 Testing of the battery charger is not in accordance with the Standard Technical Specification and adequate justification has not been provided.
Licensee Action (MP&L have assigned problem sheet 227 for resolution of this item) t/
